Reconstructive Urological Surgeries

Reconstructive urology focuses on restoring normal function of the urinary tract when it has been damaged due to injury, infection, congenital defects, or previous surgeries. These procedures are designed to improve urine flow, relieve symptoms, and enhance the patient’s overall quality of life using advanced surgical techniques.

Urethroplasty :

Urethroplasty is a specialized surgery performed to treat urethral strictures (narrowing of the urethra). This condition can cause difficulty in passing urine, weak flow, or recurrent infections. During the procedure, the narrowed segment is removed or reconstructed using tissue grafts, ensuring long-term relief and improved urinary function.

Ureteric Reimplantation :

Ureteric reimplantation is a procedure used to correct abnormalities in the connection between the ureter and the bladder. It is commonly performed in cases of vesicoureteral reflux (backward flow of urine) or ureteral injury. The surgery involves repositioning the ureter into the bladder to restore normal urine flow and prevent kidney damage.

Haemodialysis Access (AV Fistula) :

An arteriovenous (AV) fistula is created for patients with kidney failure who require long-term haemodialysis. In this procedure, an artery and a vein are connected to provide a reliable and durable access point for dialysis treatment. AV fistulas are considered the safest and most effective form of vascular access, offering better blood flow and fewer complications. These reconstructive procedures play a crucial role in restoring normal urinary function and ensuring better long-term health outcomes for patients.
