Laparoscopic Appendectomy
Laparoscopic Appendectomy
Laparoscopic appendectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed to remove the appendix, typically due to acute appendicitis. Appendicitis occurs when the appendix becomes inflamed or infected, causing severe abdominal pain—usually starting near the navel and shifting to the lower right side—along with fever, nausea, and vomiting. If left untreated, a ruptured appendix can lead to life-threatening complications such as peritonitis or abscess formation.
The laparoscopic approach involves small incisions through which a camera and surgical instruments are inserted. This technique allows the surgeon to visualize the abdominal cavity clearly and remove the infected appendix safely. Compared to open surgery, laparoscopic appendectomy offers less postoperative pain, quicker recovery, minimal scarring, and shorter hospital stay.
Our surgical team ensures prompt diagnosis through physical examination, blood tests, and imaging such as ultrasound or CT scan. Emergency surgery is often required to prevent complications. After surgery, patients are closely monitored, given antibiotics if necessary, and encouraged to mobilize early. Most individuals can return to normal activities within one to two weeks. With modern surgical expertise and a patient-centered approach, we provide safe and effective treatment for appendicitis.
