Thyroid Surgery
Thyroid Surgery
Thyroid surgery is performed to treat disorders affecting the thyroid gland, including goiter, thyroid nodules, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid cancer. The thyroid gland regulates metabolism, energy production, and hormone balance. When abnormalities occur, patients may experience swelling in the neck, difficulty swallowing, hormonal imbalance symptoms, or suspicious nodules requiring evaluation.
Surgical procedures include partial thyroidectomy (removal of part of the gland) or total thyroidectomy (complete removal), depending on the condition. Surgery may be recommended when nodules are cancerous or suspicious, when the gland enlarges significantly, or when medical therapy fails to control hyperthyroidism.
Our surgical team uses precise techniques to protect surrounding structures such as the vocal cords and parathyroid glands. Preoperative evaluation includes ultrasound, hormone testing, and biopsy when required. Most thyroid surgeries are safe, with minimal scarring and a short hospital stay.
Postoperative care includes monitoring calcium levels, thyroid hormone replacement if needed, and regular follow-up. Patients can usually return to normal activities within a short period. With expert surgical care and careful monitoring, thyroid surgery effectively restores health and prevents complications.
